Activities
The fantastic location of Gites du Logis, means there are an enormous amount of activities to do! As part of our service we will be able to advise and book any of the activities. These include:
Canoe/Kayaking
Dompierre has its own canoe/kayak centre. Thursday evenings they offer a moonlit sortie ending up at the riverside restaurant.
Children from 8 years old can participate.
Pony /Horse Riding
Gites du Logis is affiliated to the equestrian centre at Montils - 10 minutes drive away by car.
The centre can offer a guided 2 hour horse / pony trek through the beautiful French countryside for all standards.
Bike rides
Gites du Logis maps can be provided detailing a number of road or cross country bike rides. There is plenty of mountainbike terrain for the more adventurous through the vineyards and woods or road rides taking in attractive villages, river crossing on the famous hand winched river ferry, or the coastal bike track at Royan which runs alongside miles of sandy beaches.
Golf
Ideally located - the top four 18 hole courses are within easy distance of Gites du Logis. For further information on courses and rates, click on our specialised packages.
Fishing on the Charente
The river charente meanders past the village of Dompierre making Gites du Logis an ideal location for fishing. 5 minutes walk from the Gites are a number of excellent fishing spots along the river. For the less serious angler and for kids, 15 minutes away the village of St Cesaire is home to a trout and salmon farm where fish can be easily caught for the barbecue (equipment supplied)
Tree Climbing at St Georges de Didonne
Set amongst the large pines on the beach, a climbing adventure has been created amongst the trees. Vertigo sufferers should maybe leave this one out. The aim is to climb from one tree to the next using the wires, pullys, ramps, nets etc which have been set up 15 metres from the ground. All customers are supplied with safety harnesses!!
